Death of Terry Findler Outside The Tontine in Stoke
Śmierć Terry'ego Findlera przed pubem The Tontine w Stoke
51-year-old Terry Findler, a bouncer known as “Papa Bear”, died on 8 February 2020 after intervening in a disturbance outside The Tontine pub in Stoke. Findler tackled one of the people involved to the ground before collapsing into an A-board and falling onto the pavement. He was taken to hospital but died within an hour. Police initially arrested a man on suspicion of manslaughter, but CCTV footage showed that Findler had not been assaulted and the manslaughter case did not proceed to court. Medical examinations identified a fatal blood clot. Coroner Daniel Howe concluded that Findler died from a pulmonary arterial thromboembolism and recorded his death as being from natural causes. The coroner considered unlawful killing but found insufficient evidence to establish that the altercation caused the fatal embolism.
